Series 1 contains some materials pertaining to the prosecution of narcotics cases and other matters under litigation by the Stockton, California District Attorney's office between 1949 and 1959. Series 2 contains reports, correspondence, scrapbooks and other materials relating to the Watts Riot, anti-Vietnam War demostrations, corruption charges against the California Highway Patrol, and the basic discharge of daily business of the Highway Patrol between 1959 and 1967. Series 3 contains reports, correspondence and plans relating to Highway Safety Programs operated by the U.S. Department of Transportation between 1967 and 1978 as well as B.M. Crittenden's speeches describing his experiences as California Highway Patrol Commissioner. Series 4 contains documents and correspondence pertaining to land leasing and farming in the San Joaquin Valley between 1953 and 1970.
